OUTDOOR ADVENTURE GAME FAQ
How does the Berkhamsted Castle adventure game work?
Make the booking and choose the time slot you want.
We’ll send you some information, a waiver to sign and more information about the game.
We will ask you to arrive at Berkhamsted Castle 20 minutes before the start of your game. King John will welcome you to 1216, give you a briefing and answer any questions you have.
At the start time, you’ll receive your first instructions and the flag on the tent will start to descend – time to start the search!
Is the game safe to play during this period affected by the coronavirus pandemic?
Yes. You will be outside in the fresh air throughout the game. All clues and props that we use are cleaned after every game and we offer protective gloves if you want to wear them.
How long does the adventure game take to play?
The game takes up to 90 minutes to complete.
What should we wear?
Light comfortable clothing and footwear is usually best although wet weather gear may be useful in adverse weather conditions.
Can I add or remove people from my booking?
Yes you may add people to your booking – just call us on 03451 131313.
What happens if we are late?
We will try and run the whole game for you although we will not allow any subsequent games to be affected by a group over-running.
Are there on-site toilet facilities?
There are no public toilets at Berkhamsted Castle, however visitors are able to use the toilets behind the nearby Tesco on the high street – just a seven minute walk from the castle.
Can we bring some sort of temporary shelter to the castle eg a gazebo?
Berkhamsted Castle is an English Heritage site and as such, the erecting of any structures involving the digging of items such as pegs into the ground, is strictly prohibited.
What is your refund and cancellation policy?
In ordinary circumstances we don’t offer refunds. However, if the game cannot go ahead due to changes in the coronavirus alert level, a full refund will be given. We will allow one re-schedule free of charge as we recognise things don’t always go to plan. But re-schedules cannot be made on the day of the booked activity.
Will the weather affect the game?
This is an all-weather game – the siege will still go ahead in wet conditions. We have umbrellas (which will have been sanitised pre-use) that you can borrow or purchase and we will have ponchos available in adult and child sizes to buy for just £1.00. Only in the event of serious storms or other extreme weather will we reschedule your game. If this is the case we will endeavour to give you as much notice as possible.
